Donation Explosion – Help !!!

Oh My Goodness — We have generous donors! Our back room, shelves and floor are over flowing with donations. We need some help sorting and organizing the mountain of items donated to us these past several weeks as well as some spring cleaning…at least the calendar indicates it’s spring time. :-)

Saturday, March 4th from 9 am to 1pm. Come one. Come All.

We need help with the following areas:
- Sorting Donations
- Sweeping Floors
- Cleaning Windows
- Dusting Shelves
- Moving Boxes
- Pricing Items
- Hanging Clothes

Come on our for a few hours. Make it a family event. Lunch will be served.

It's not quite this bad...but it feels like it sometimes. Thanks!

Wow – That’s Bright!

Thanks to the St. Mary of Hannah Church Youth Group for their work last Friday painting the dressing rooms at St. Vincent de Paul Traverse City.  Wow!  Excellent work kids.

Our youngest volunteer to date, Chloe, is seen below having a little fun imitating the tree art at the Vos home in Long Lake Township.  Chloe helped her dad and other volunteers pick up items from generous donations this past Saturday all about Grand Traverse County.  To build a strong foundation for the organization to last generations, it is important to get the kids involved.  Everyone had a great time.

Donation pick ups are available on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, typically in the morning from 9 to noon.  For more information, please call us at 231-947-8466.

Santa Arrives Early at St. Vinnie’s

Santa makes a rare appearance during the busy month of December to St. Vincent de Paul in Traverse City this past Wednesday to join the Blessing of the Building and Open House celebration.  As you can imagine, Santa was in big demand and we were only able to get one small photo of him, speaking with a young man from Kingsley.  Maybe someone else obtained some other photos that we can soon share.

Thanks Santa.  You helped make the celebration extra special!

Building Blessing – Open House Celebration

A big “Thank You” to Father Bill Libscomb of Traverse City for conducting the blessing of the building, volunteers, employees, donors, visitors, shoppers and “the work” of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Traverse City this past Wednesday afternoon.  84 attendees enjoyed the ceremony, shared some good food and drink, toured the operation and enjoyed good conversation with friends, old and new.

Thank you all.  It was a huge success and the prayers and physical & financial support will help continue the upward trajectory and positive impact St. Vincent de Paul has on the lives of needy families in our community.

Our prayers and thoughts continue to be with Father Tony Cureton and his mother Savannah.  Father Cureton was hurriedly called to visit her and was unable to attend today’s celebration.

Thank you to all the members of the Wilson family.

The family of George and Rose Wilson had their annual Christmas party on December 2nd with 80 family members attending. The gathering was hosted by Mindy and Nate Kujawski. Family members all brought donations instead of gifts for one another, and were all donated to St. Vincent de Paul – Traverse City.

Thank you so very much for your generousity!
