Board President Margaret Sophiea stated that “The five and dime theme plays off of the old-fashioned, 1950’s style variety stores where everything in the store used to cost a dime. Think Woolworth, Ben Franklin or Kresge. They also used to be called dime stores, or 5 and 10’s.” Jokingly, Sophiea added “With inflation, we now call them dollar stores. We are attempting to coordinate the event with other area businesses to make it more of a neighborhood event.”
