Thank you to the students and staff at St. Mary’s Hannah school in Kingsley, MI. They generously donated to St. Vincent de Paul. The letter below accompanied their donation. Bless you kids !!!
In his Circular Letter of December 12, 1915, Vicomte Hendecourt, President-General writes:
“The Society has two aims: to do a great deal of spiritual good to its members through the exercise of charity, and to do a little spiritual and temporal good to a few poor families in the name of Jesus Christ. If it did not continually seek to combine these two aims, it would lose its raison d’etre (reason or justification for existence). If it were to seek only the holiness of its members through pious exercises, there is no lack of Confraternities and Third Orders to meet that need. If on the other hand, it were to seek only the relief of the temporal miseries of the poor, it would only add one more to the list of public and private institutions founded for that purpose.”
Oh My Goodness — We have generous donors! Our back room, shelves and floor are over flowing with donations. We need some help sorting and organizing the mountain of items donated to us these past several weeks as well as some spring cleaning…at least the calendar indicates it’s spring time.
Saturday, March 4th from 9 am to 1pm. Come one. Come All.
We need help with the following areas:
- Sorting Donations
- Sweeping Floors
- Cleaning Windows
- Dusting Shelves
- Moving Boxes
- Pricing Items
- Hanging Clothes
Come on our for a few hours. Make it a family event. Lunch will be served.
It’s not quite this bad…but it feels like it sometimes. Thanks!
Our youngest volunteer having fun while her dad does some heavy lifting.
Our youngest volunteer to date, Chloe, is seen below having a little fun imitating the tree art at the Vos home in Long Lake Township. Chloe helped her dad and other volunteers pick up items from generous donations this past Saturday all about Grand Traverse County. To build a strong foundation for the organization to last generations, it is important to get the kids involved. Everyone had a great time.
Donation pick ups are available on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, typically in the morning from 9 to noon. For more information, please call us at 231-947-8466.
Thank you to all the members of the Wilson family.
The family of George and Rose Wilson had their annual Christmas party on December 2nd with 80 family members attending. The gathering was hosted by Mindy and Nate Kujawski. Family members all brought donations instead of gifts for one another, and were all donated to St. Vincent de Paul – Traverse City.
A great big “THANK YOU” to all the employees and management at ECI Healthcare Partners that participated in the recent Food Drive benefitting St. Vincent de Paul – Traverse City. Your generosity helped fill the shelves of the ever depleting food pantry we operate that helps needy individuals and families in our community.
Working hard to unload all the donated food items. Thank you ECI!
The load of donated food from ECI employees overflowed into the hallway before it was fully organized. Thank you!
Thanks again to all the young students and Director of Religious Education and Youth Group, Norm Schichtel, for the wonderful donations of food, religious books and other household items for use in the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry, thrift store and soon to be opened Catholic Book & Gift Store.
You were all a pleasure to meet and work with and we hope to see you and some more of your friends every month. Keep up the good work and you will continue to be a shining example for others to witness.
Thank you for all the donations, community support and prayers since we re-opened July 5th. Your continued donations have allowed us to help many needy families in recent weeks and continue the mission of St. Vincent de Paul.
